I’ve enjoyed that I am part of the community and giving back, I’ve massively improved my confidence and my ability to work as a team, socially interact with others and do practical tasks like delivering presentations.
If you’re thinking about volunteering don’t hesitate. Even if you feel like what you have to offer isn’t enough there is always a place for you.”

“When I moved to Sussex I moved away from all of my friends and family because that's the way my life had taken me and I didn’t have anywhere to go or things to do. When I started at Esteem I made friends that I think will be friends for life. I started to gain experience in the field I wanted to go into through volunteering which has massively helped me get into a career I’m happy with”

“I would say if you’re thinking about going to volunteer, take the plunge and do it, you get as much as you put in, and it’s a really worthwhile experience”
Grace
“I volunteer because Esteem is a wonderful organisation and I would like to give back and support it. I get structure and a sense that I have used my time in a valuable way and also I get to learn important media skills.”
“After volunteering with Esteem for two years, I became a contracted member of staff as graphic designer and 5 years on I am now a marketing manager for a local accountancy firm.”
From mentoring to boxing and counselling, there's something for everyone at Esteem.
