At ESTEEM we are thrilled to have nearly completed the redecoration and revitalisation of our building on Ham Road in Shoreham-By-Sea.
Thanks to the hard work of a wonderful team of volunteers, staff, local business supporters and young adults we have completely transformed our space: redecorating everywhere, repurposing rooms and even installing a new kitchen! (A very special thanks to HG construction in particular for this!)
As we’ve continued running our offer of group activities and 1-2-1 support for young adults, we’ve seen first-hand how the cost of living crisis has taken hold. Families and young adults are struggling to keep up with bill payments and cherished local community groups who do essential work are unable to continue.
In this alarming context, we will now be opening our doors throughout the day to all local young adults aged 14-26. From Monday to Friday 10:30am-5:30pm our building will be a space where young people can hang out, play games, use laptops and free wifi, and of course, stay warm.
In addition, we have decided to offer our space to other local community groups that need a room or two outside of ESTEEM opening hours.
Groups doing good in our community can use our kitchen, activity room and meeting room for free or for a small donation if they can afford it.
You can find out more about our warmer space plan on our webpage.
Along with opening up our space to the community, we will continue our mission to create space for young adults to thrive all year round, with free well-being and mentoring support, volunteering opportunities and social activities. Over winter, in particular, we will offer additional hot meals and trips. We’re also running a free Holiday food and activities programme for 14-17-year-olds who have free school meals.
As ever we rely on the support of the local community to power our work. So we’re asking for your help to keep everyone warm this winter.
You can support us by covering our building costs for one three-hour session (£17), a day (£44) or even a week (£219).
Or, you can show your support by crocheting a square to be a part of our big community blanket. When completed the blanket will live in ESTEEM’s wellbeing room, ready to warm and comfort young adults when they need it.
