Today was a slightly different day to usual as I went to the old school house to help deep clean the building. I did a few hours of work during the weekend in order to make up for these extra hours and I also did a few more hours of work after deep cleaning.
Today was my usual day in the office. I spent some time in the morning making a risk assessment for the beach clean and finalising the booking for the SUP activity. I also reached out to the Shoreham-by-sea horticultural and allotments society in case we are able to do a one off planting activity at an allotment in the future. During the afternoon I had two sessions planned, activities in the park and badminton. The turn out today was better than the previous week and we also had a brand new ESTEEM member join in which was great!
Today was my only day working at home and it consisted of a lot of video calls! During the morning I sent off the photos we took last week in order to put up a John Muir Award blog post on the ESTEEM website. I am hoping we can add to this as we continue to do nature activities each week. I also had a meeting to discuss drop-in ideas for the future and ways in which outdoor activities can continue after I leave the internship. During the weekly team meeting all staff caught up and discussed what had been going on and what is needed for the coming week. There were some great ideas about the allotment and good feedback from staff so all was positive! In the evening I attended the drop-in and met Philip from Friends of Truleigh Hill. He gave us some insight into the work he does and offered to organise an online photography workshop which ties in perfectly with some of the nature activities we have been doing. We also decided to host an ESTEEM photography competition which is very exciting.
Today I worked from the office again as I had an activity planned for the afternoon. I managed to get a lot done during the morning which means that the beach clean and volleyball are now booked and organised for the coming weeks. I made a poster to go along with this and sent it round the group chat. The activity planned for the afternoon was plant growing and I had ordered some equipment especially for this. I saved cuttings and seeds from fruit and veg I had used during the week in order to be as sustainable as possible. The aim is that once our plants have grown we are able to replant them in an allotment.
